The Importance of Being a Missional Church
“He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.”
– Mark 16:15
At Misty Creek, we believe in sharing the love of Jesus in our local community and abroad. Each year Misty Creek provides financial support for missionary families serving abroad. At this time, we are supporting three families in different parts of the world who are sharing the saving grace of Jesus Christ with others.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
– Acts 1:8
Vision & Values
We have a very active Missions Team at Misty Creek Community Church. We recognize the calling for all of us to be the hands and feet of Christ in serving those who are in need, unheard and feel unloved. In an effort to serve those in local and surrounding communities we partner with like minded organizations that share our same core missions beliefs and values by modeling Christ and modeling Biblical truth. Our Missions Team meets monthly either at the church or alternating between different team members’ homes. Our mission is to love God, love people, and make disciples.
We are passionate about reaching those who feel lost and without hope. We aim to give people a hand up rather than a handout. Our Missions Team is one of the core tenets of Misty Creek Community Church and we are very engaged in the life of the church. We are visibly involved in worship and both international and domestic missions efforts. We encourage our entire congregation to be engaged, including both adults and youth.
Domestic Missions Partners
Family Promise provides temporary assistance, hospitality, and case management for families with children experiencing homelessness. Misty Creek Community Church is one of many area churches that provides support for The Family Promise rotational shelter program developed specifically to keep families together while they are working towards a way out of their current situations. As a partner, we agree with the Family Promise philosophy on the severely negative impact that homelessness has on children. We believe it is imperative to prevent or reverse a housing crisis for families to avoid the mental health effects that research proves generally occur for children. Currently we are a host partner with Sandy Springs United Methodist Church. We partner in hosting families enrolled in the program 4-5 times each year and are able to provide shelter, meals, fellowship and transportation for one to two weeks. We look forward to the day we will be able to host Family Promise on our own campus! To learn more about Family Promise go to: www.familypromisenfd.org

In September of 2022 members of our mission team had the opportunity to visit Antioch Christian Academy in Misahualli, Ecuador to determine if they would be a fit for Misty Creek Community Church to serve alongside as International Missionary Partners. We were so impressed with the great work they are doing, that we decided to go back with a bigger group. We are planning a Mission Trip July 16-23, 2023 to serve in the jungle and continue to develop and strengthen our relationship with Jungle Kids for Christ and the families they serve.
